the song grows quiet this time of year
the urge to sing
background noise as my breath
puffs white clouds into being
the silence is soothing
hunger gnawing at someone else’s heart tonight

I've never visited a family grave before, since I didn't have access moving around with the military growing up. We went to the cemetery today to find my great grandfather's grave, because he's buried in our town.
